Justice demanded for Chris Kaba on National Action Day!

On National Action Day, nationwide protests were held to demand justice for Chris Kaba, an unarmed man who was shot dead by police. Hundreds gathered outside Scotland Yard in London as part of a national day of action called by the Justice for Chris Kaba campaign, as well as police stations in Cardiff, Manchester, Brighton, Coventry and Southampton. Black Lives have always been attacked and their lives smothered under the foots of white people. This is not the first case of racism reported but many cases have been reported but justice has not be served. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”, and justice has always been denied to black people.

How much Do We know?

Chris Kaba, 24 years was killed by a single bullet while behind the wheel of an Audi on September 5. He was a musician and a expectant father, two police Metropolitan police chased his car and cornered it. Chris Kaba Protest

What is the truth?

Chris Kaba’s family are just seeking for the truth. They have went on to express a thought that was on the minds of so many, and perhaps goes some way to explaining why trust in the police all the time. In Macpherson’s report which states that London’s Metropolitan police force as “institutionally racist” since last 23 years. Police are the repressive state apparatus which follows the ideology of the ruling class.

Public Response

The death of an unarmed young black man at the hands of the police has stirred an outpouring emotions. Over the weekend, thousands of anti-racism protesters filled the streets in demand of answers, transparency and accountability. More demonstrations have been planned to take place across the country in solidarity.

The Met Response

Polling shows that public confidence in the Metropolitan police has been on a downward trend. 49% Londoners have said that they have little to no trust in the Met. This number of distrust has grown now up to 52% among women who live in London and 54% among ethnic minority people. Numerous officers have come to limelight for their jokes about domestic violence and using racist and misogynistic language. Just three months ago, Oladeji Omishore, fell into Thames and dies after being tasered by police.

EU and the America has always been accused of racism and their man-handling of black people, just India has been accused to man-handling Dalit community. Ethnic minorities have always been targeted by the majority and have been targeted by whites. Black people have long history of slavery, which eradicated have remained in some from or the other. In 2020, murder of Geoge Floyd, stirred the same #blacklivesmatter. As Maya Angelou puts, “prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future, and renders the present inaccessible.” WhatsOn stands in solidarity with Chris kaba’s family and demands justice for him.
