Strike hits Britain hard: Docker’s Strike

Strike hits Britain hard. Britain is hit hard by the docker’s strike as the Liverpool dockers happen to be the first in action to contribute to the strike. The strike is scheduled to put itself into action on Monday night. They have demanded a strike for two weeks of over-payment issue. Strike action swept across Britain as ten thousand workers are set to go on a restrain period. The restraint is to follow for the next 10 days before the queen’s funeral today.

Liverpool Dockers: Strike

Liverpool dockers more than 500 in number will be the first in action on Monday night. The workers are set to strike for two weeks. The dockers from the Felixstowe who happens to be 1900 in number are already involved in an eight-day strike on 27 September. This week Friday they will come along with their comrades in Liverpool to display some solidarity. 170,000 workers will be out on strike.

The Strike Action

Meanwhile, Communications Union CWU and Rail Unions RMT, Aslef, and TSSA will take action together. Their action is dedicated to paralyzing the rail network and the postal services. Barristers, bin workers, college lecturers, airport workers, and cleaners have arranged their dates for the strike action. The Liverpool dockers who are members of the Unite have decided and rejected a 7 percent pay increase. The rejection is to ignite the reason for inflation which is hanging around 10 percent.

Dock owner’s decision

The dock owner’s proposal is described as a pay cut that tidied up itself as a rise. Peel Ports happens to be one of the five companies which own Britain’s ports including Mersey Docks and Harbour Company. Unite thinks that £ 30 million profits have been made last year by the Liverpool operators. Liverpool docks are shut down by the company for Monday’s funeral. The company has plans to reopen it at 7 p.m. Tuesday is planned for the pickets which could be a big turnout.
