Wildlife Populations at Threat

Wildlife Populations are at threat according to the Living Planet Report. The wildlife population is at threat as there had been a severe decline in recent times. The global climate affects the survival of wildlife. Some of the wild animal populations are under threat. The gradual decline of the wildlife population has been described as devastating.

Report: The Living Planet

The Living Planet created a report for 2022 recently which gives a detailed analysis of the declining wildlife population. The Living Planet Index found that the populations have mentioned that the wildlife in totality is under threat. Animals like amphibians, birds, fish and mammals, and reptiles were tracked in the recent study. The report suggests that all the wildlife creatures have declined by 69% since 1970.

The Living Planet Report: Analysis

The report also claims that the population of many species has increased over a period since 1970. The biodiversity of animal life and different species of it has plunged considerably. The wildlife expansion in several species has been a unique turnover in the report. The wildlife decreased due to several reasons like habitat loss, overfishing, pollution, and the climate crisis. The environment has taken a great toll on the natural habitat. It’s in continuation with the natural creatures as the environment is declining every second.

Expert Vision regarding the Report

Marco Lambertini, the director-general of WWF International has said that we are facing double emergencies. Those include climate change and biodiversity loss which are threatening the well-being of the current and future generations. Milan Kundera, the Czech writer, in his book The Unbearable Lightness Of Being has given an opinion related to wildlife. “Dogs do not have many advantages over people, but one of them is extremely important: euthanasia is not forbidden by law in their case; animals have the right to a merciful death”.
