Wickremesinghe had bagged 134 votes out of a Parliament consisting of 225 members. He was victorious securing enough votes in a three-way contest that happened at the elections. Ranil, upon gaining a considerable position to lead the government said that this is the time to foster unity has come forgetting all the division. He has requested all the political parties to come in unison so that there can be economic stability throughout the nation. His election happened based on the nationalist list. Responsibilities of the New President

The new President will cater to the required activities that need to be taken care of. He has to work out through the worst economic crash that the island is witnessing for a while now. Citizens are facing disastrous conditions as the cost of living is getting beyond their resources. Protesters think that he is Rajapaksa’s backer which he denies confirming. He claims to have risen to power just to improve the economic conditions of the island.

Improvements within the Nation

He said in a recent thread on Twitter that the power cuts and the distribution of fuel have improved from the past. Still, there are lots of people standing in queues to purchase fuel. There is a price rise in all the essential commodities. Ranil previously consulted International Monetary Fund. The fund is there to support as all of it depends on the reconstruction of the whole economic structure.
