Photos: Eye witness of Sri Lanka’s big protest – PM & President forced to resign

There had been a series of resignations that struck Sri Lanka as the Prime Minister and the President offered resignation. This series of resignations was offered by the Prime Minister and President after the protesters showered themselves in anger at their homes due to the economic crisis.


The protesters attempted to stay in President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s house including his seaside office. They also remained in the Prime Minister’s residence until they made them resign. The chaos led to the maintenance of law and order. The defense chief had to call for public support. Soldiers were appointed in Colombo. There had been protesters not less than thousands in number.

Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka has led to protests


The protesters made the situation more chaotic. A certain section of the protesters rushed to the conference room. They upon entering started to make announcements persuading the President and the Prime Minister to leave. The Prime Minister’s private residence was set on fire by the protesters. Some of the protesters dived into the pool and used their mobile phones to capture the moment.

Meetings had been held with several other politicians and different parties. Those are the members who had parted with Rajapaksa. A decision cannot be reached right away. An opposition MP pointed out that a majority needs to be in place to request the existing President to wait until a new government is established. The President ran away from his residence before the people arrived.
