Music Monday: Music Selection of the Week!

WhatsOn music editor, Adam Humphries have come up with some of the hot and new music tracks for the week. These tracks are selected for you to enjoy throughout the week and make your week more productive. Here is the list for this week’s selection!

Kelly + Kyle – Lovely

Canadian twin brothers who have started sliding towards the UK Charts with their song, Lovely. Overall the song itself is more of a feel good track with a bit of potential hard-to-get romance thrown in to the equation. Having said that it does have a catchy bassline and Kyle and Kelly’s singing is catchy. One for the summer playlist

“She making it worth it/everybody telling me that she ain’t that far from perfect”

Ironically the lyrics pay reference to the typical American/LA type partying lifestyle of drinks by the poolside and vying for the attention of the woman who’s become the subject of typical summer love type romance

Ultra Nate – Free

Originally released back in the early/mid 00’s the song is an upbeat dance classic and is about embracing who you are and self-acceptance. As you’d expect it became something of an LGBT+, the meaning of the lyrics do reflect on the subject of coming out

“Make that change lets start today

Get outta bed get on your way/

Don’t be scared your dreams right there

You want it reach for it”

Faithless – Not Going Home

Another dance classic by DJ duo, Sister Bliss and Maxi Jazz who make Faithless. The song is about the guy who’s trying to whoo a woman who he finds attractive and wishes to take her on a date (or to his place). Even though it’s over a decade old you can’t really deny that it’s a crowd pleaser. Maxi’s voice is smooth as it is enticing and Bliss is a pro on the turn tables

“Outside the club there is a line of taxi

I want you to climb next to me/

Upon the backseat (on the backseat* on the acid mix)

I need your company to relax me”

Skrillex + Korn + Kill The Noise – Narcissistic Cannibal

Now since Run DMC and Aerosmith first got together it showed us that musical opposites can actually go hand in hand. This is no exception. Narcissistic Cannibal is practically a work of genius in itself and shows the sheer genius of Sonny John More aka Skrillex. Kill The Noise and Korn equally deserve credit for this rock/dance/electronic gem. Ironically the song is about people who over believe their own importance they end up destroying themselves owing to their own vanity regardless of who they hurt

“Don’t wanna be rude but I have to/

Nothing’s good about the hell you put me through”

This is amongst one of the songs that helped put the dubstep genre into the mainstream
