The Kut Releases ‘ANIMO’ Video Single

Everyone meet Princess Maha, who is also known by her stage-name, The Kut. She is part of a musical collective of female talent. For this song she is joined by Diana Bartmann, Jennifer Sanin and Alison Wood. If you have yet to hear of her you will do soon as she already to take the British music scene by storm, and has gone even further by signing a deal with a big American brand, Amplified (Alliance / AMPED / MNRK) ahead of the release of her video for the band’s music video for Animo

Amino can be best described as every bit of a feminist song and means ‘spirit’ or ‘courage’ and was written in the light of the Women’s Rights movements that took place in the UK over the past year.

If ever there was any question that punk had gone back into retreat then this is as much proof as any that it is back and beginning to make its presence felt once more. And it has got something to say which is very close to home.

The song is strong and filled with guitar riffs, powerful drum beats and great singing voices by both Maha, Diana and Jennifer, is packed with haunting grungy melodies, not to mention some great feminine driving force as well as unapologetic punk/rock spirit. As a track, it is revolution that has been gradually building up and ready to burst and make itself heard and known.

Lyrically, the words in the song are witty and talk about the struggles that women have had to go through as well as the issues that they still have to face today.

“I’m not vulnerable I’m letting go/I’m in control”

“I know we don’t quite see eye to eye”

Also, the fact that the punk movement can still have and maintain female representation is a positive one.

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS release BOOK + music video!

American rock giants, They Might Be Giants have released their new, highly anticipated musical and artistic offering, Book, and is packed with 16 fresh, new songs. So, there is definitely something in there to feast your musical ear to. It can best be described as a sort of ‘chocolate box’ of the creative talents of TMBG.

Their new album is a clever mixture of surrealist artistry with what can be viewed as absurdist humor, new sounds and old, witty song-writing along with infamous rock-sound tunes. Think old meets new with a bit of alternative ideas and artistic ideas thrown into the mix, an odd concoction but somehow it does actually work.

Overall, as an album, Book, is a tribute to the musical creativity of TMBG as they have certainly come a long way in over 20 years, and certainly since many heard their infamous song for hit TV series Malcolm in the Middle Here is a small selection of tracks to listen to; Moonbeam Rays, Brontosaurus, I Can’t Remember the Dream and Wait Actually Yeah No Use the link below to listen to the album in its entirety.

They have also released the official music video for their single, Moonbeam Rays, use the link below to view it.

Unsettling self-made Lynchian-meets-Bo Burnham visual from cacophonous craftsmen Chew Magna!

If you are a fan of the Mancunian noise-making machine, otherwise known as Chew Magna, then you will hopefully have heard of their song, Listless. Well since then they have been busy working on the accompanying video to the track. For this, they have taken some creative inspiration from infamous American film-maker, Visual Artist and Musician, David Lynch.

For those who are familiar with Lynch will no doubt be familiar with some of his work on films such as, Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, TV shows such as Twin Peaks (both 90’s & 00’s versions) and Hotel Room. As an artist Lynch was known for his surrealist approach to his work, which in many ways became one of his USP’s.

Chew Magna appear to have taken a leaf of his book and have used to it create a little something of their own, some good work in the making. What is also quite impressive about it is that it only took them a single day to create the video, not bad at all, and you can see and feel all the energy and creativity that they have put into it as well.
