Music Monday: Latest Music releases of this week!

Our music editor, Adam Humphries is back with the review of the top five music releases of this week!

Dave Gahan covers Cat Power and tells us about his “liberating” new album “Metal Heart”

Dave Gahan & Soulsavers have teamed up once again and shared their interpretation of Cat Power’s ‘Metal Heart’ from their upcoming covers album ‘Imposter’.

‘Imposter,’ which was released earlier this week, is the latest effort from Gahan and his longtime musician colleague Rich Machin as Soulsavers. The album also features covers of songs by Neil Young, Bob Dylan, PJ Harvey, Charlie Chaplin, Mark Lanegan, and others.

The 12 chosen tunes, according to Gahan, have “a feeling of wisdom and longevity that is just there in the song and very clear in the voice.”

Gahan and Machin recorded and produced “Imposter.” The setting gave the assembled band a “magical” sense of freedom, allowing them to operate in the same vein as the iconic Rubin-produced Johnny Cash cover album “American IV: The Man Comes Around.”

Dave Gahan’s version starts much like Cat Power’s spare original, from 1998’s Moon Pix, with just his voice and a guitar, but it soon grows into a full-on, stadium-sized rock epic.

The imposter is out November 12 via Columbia.

Gahan had this to say about the “Metal Heart” cover in a press release: “It’s probably my favorite at the moment. It was such a great performance to record because it had this arc, starting as just this little thing which by the end grows into a monster, and to me, that same arc also reflects the sentiment of the song.”

It was shared via a black & white video featuring in-the-studio footage. Watch it below.

LANA DEL REY REVEALS ALTERNATE ‘ARCADIA’ VIDEO

Lana Del Rey has released an additional video for ‘Arcadia’ ahead of the release of her eighth studio album, ‘Blue Banisters,’ on October 22nd.

Lana previously stated, “I guess you could say this album is about what it was like, what occurred, and what it is like today.” “If you’re interested, check out the first three tracks I released before.” They tell the story from the beginning. This song falls halfway in between.”

The alternate video was released to commemorate the tenth anniversary of her breakthrough single ‘Video Games.’ Now you can read the entire ‘Born To Die’ Hall Of Fame piece!

The track, produced by Drew Erickson, was released by Rey on September 8 and is set to appear on her forthcoming LP Blue Banisters.

Just like the original music video she released for ARCADIA, Rey has directed the alternative video herself.

Diane Keaton and Justin Bieber team up for his ‘Ghost’ music video

Justin Bieber released a new music video for his song “Ghost” on the same day his concert documentary “Justin Bieber: Our World” was released on Amazon.

Diane Keaton, an Oscar-winning actress, plays a relative of the singer in the video. The video begins with the two grieving over the death of the family patriarch. It then leaps to two years later, where we see them attempting to move on from their sadness while keeping their loved one’s memory alive.

Keaton expressed her excitement at being a part of the project earlier this week on Instagram, writing “Are you kidding me??? Working With Justin Bieber and His Amazing Team Was A Blessing!!!”

On Friday, Bieber also released three new songs from “Justice: The Complete Edition”: “Red Eye,” “Angels Speak” and “Hailey.”
