AMY STEELE drops sublime cover of Drake’s ‘44 22’!

British soul-singing talent, Amy Steele, may not have been on the UK’s music scene for that long but she is already making some big musical waves and she has already got London raving for her. For her next song, she has covered American singer, Drake, track 44 22, and apparently, there is an interesting little theory behind the title of this latest one.

44 22 has already received raved reviews from the British music press outlets. However, don’t get completely lost in her music just yet as Amy picks her musical choices that are based on things that matter to her. Also, it is about things that reflect her creativity and what she represents musically.

The theorizing behind the title is that only half of the people out there only getting to what it is that they even made a promise towards, only 22 going halfway to 44. Hence the metaphor of the title “44 to 22 you build it up till to break it halfway through/Just make that call 22, you’re just the same as I ever knew”

Overall, as a track, the song has that futuristic vibe to it which gives it that edge to the sound. In regards to the tune itself, it is in the same vein as Disclosure. When you listen carefully to the music Amy wears her heart on her sleeve and her singing voice carries the emotional level that the song covers in regards to its subject matter.

Alice SK returns with striking new vintage-noir single “Run Away”

Remember London-based artist Alice SK? Well, she has made a much-welcomed return to the music scene after some time away, and it has definitely been worth the wait. Her new single, Run Away, was written and produced whilst in lockdown and is a reflection of some of the hardships that you can go through, mentally and emotionally, and the resulting effect that it can have on us.

The track is a vintage noir and has that retro-soul feel to it and sounds like a perfect rock and roll soul track. Run Away is in the same musical vein as Paloma Faith. She even has a singing voice that matches her, she carries the emotion in her voice whenever she opens her mouth and you can hear the raw grittiness. Another group that she has a similar musical touch to perishes in that the words are sung in a low-baritone that gives the song that little extra edginess. If anything, it just shows the best in Alice’s singing ability

“My shadows chase me/They race with me through my mind”

Overall, as a tune, this is one of those that just seem to be in your heart and go round and round and the drudgeries of the song just go hand-in-hand with the subject matter capturing the grim mental of the mind.

Definitely, one for the playlist and is a testament to Alice’s talent as a singer/songwriter.

THE KUT to re-release Charity Xmas single

Upcoming British rock talent, The Kut, has is re-releasing her charity Christmas song, Waiting for Christmas which will be available on the 17th December 2021, that being this Friday coming.

Although it managed to reach No. 10 in the physical music charts, UK Physical Singles Chart on Christmas Day due to her fans last year it remained there for a month. It even managed to chart at No 65 in the Official Singles Sales Chart.

This year, and as part of the collaboration with the fundraising, for each £1 spent on purchasing a copy of the song, every 7” and every CD, 50p will be donated to the female empowerment organization, Girls Out Loud. An official comment from The Kut on her blog “I’ve chosen Girls Out Loud as the charity we will donate to this year. They do amazing work to empower young girls, and equip them with confidence, resilience, and a positive self-image. All single sales of ‘Waiting For Christmas’ between now and Boxing Day, will contribute to a one-off donation we will make to Girls Out Loud”

Overall, as a song, it doesn’t sound like your typical tune as it has that American rock sound to it, and Kut’s singing voice has that gritty sound to it. It is one of those that carries emotion and has been around for a while longer than you think. The subject matter is one that you can tell is very close to her heart and is all about the issues that women go through, even at Christmas. Even the lyrics openly address the emotional problems that women go through.

“It’s Christmas time so why do I feel so low/Is it Christmas time whoa-oh”

Also, if you want to view the video, use the link below, it does have that raw, feel to it and is direct in its message about female empowerment.
