Lunchtime Menu – Browns, ST Martins Square, Birmingham

Browns is certainly a pleasant place wherein to dine. The interior design with its large facing clock; wine racks; Parisian style cafe tables and huge outer windows looking out onto ST Martins Square, all mix beautifully to create the marriage of classical against post modernist. Arriving to sample the lunch menu, we were warmly welcomed by the waitress Agata. For starters we chose the Salmon, Horseradish & Spinach Fishcake, which was also comprised of caper and egg mayonnaise with Rocket. This is of course is a traditional French dish. As expected the Horseradish was beautifully prepared so as to not overpower, but enough to bring out the taste of the Salmon. Everything on the plate was well ordered, fresh and satisfying.
For mains we chose the Buratta Ravioli. This was comprised of Devon Crab; tomato; white wine; garlic and rocket. The white wine and the garlic really made this simple dish a little special with that little hint of sweet from the tomato.
For dessert we elected for the Salted Caramel Chocolate Pot. This was served with whipped cream and shortbread biscuit. Here there were all of the key ingredients: the creamy rich chocolaty pot with the sweet of the caramel. The light creaminess of the cream and the delicious crunch from the biscuit. A wonderful dessert. Beautifully arranged and delivered.
Our waiter Agata was professional, warm and attentive. General manager Ranjit has put together a great team for his restaurant. The cooks; waiting staff and eatery all come together perfectly to make Browns a worthy stop between shopping, or for those who simply want excellent food, speedily prepared, in a beautiful space.
The Lunch and Early Evening Menu is served between 12 – 7 pm Monday to Friday. Two courses are offered for £10.95. For an extra £4 you could turn the experience into a three course meal.
A great experience all around. Thank you.
