Love Music Hate Racism launch ‘Speak Up Thursday’

This new initiative is aiming to create “a day of conversation around the issue of racism and the role music can play in tackling it”. Tara Pilkington reports.

Love Music Hate Racism last week launched their new ‘Speak Up Thursday’ initiative. Artists and music fans alike are encouraged to use the hashtag #SpeakUpThursday in order to “make a pledge on social media to speak up against racism wherever and whenever they encounter it”.

Some of the artists and organisations who will be taking part in the new initiative are Drillminister, Logic, Lloyd Luther, Morgan Connie Smith, KAWALA, Rika and Sophie and the Giants.

This new initiative hopes to continue the momentum that has been sparked by the Black Lives Matter movement and inspire further change within the music industry.
