Artist: Dua Lipa
Transitioning from successful model to even more successful music artist Dua Lipa is pretty much the perfect pop princess. There don’t appear to be any skeletons in her immaculately tasteful closet and latest album Future Nostalgia does more than enough to keep her career on track.
From posting covers of Pink and Nelly Furtado as a teenager Lipa has grown into writing her own music understanding what makes a hit song. This album is full of them. Sceptics will say what she does is contrived but then again they aren’t the ones tucked away out of the limelight creating new music.
This latest effort might play it safe but it’s a wholesome set that has lovely little links to the golden years of disco. It’s a polished record with a slight nod towards the past but with production that is pure 21st century. That means the title is about as apt as it can be. There’s a vocal maturing to round things off too.
Dua Lipa has plucked the very best of then and married it to cutting edge now. The result is wonderful.
