Lewis Capaldi, born on October 7, 1996, has been interested in music since he was a child. At the age of two, he started playing guitar and drums, but his passion for music was ignited two years later when he performed at a summer camp. His early love of music inspired him to become a professional musician at 12. With his parents’ help, the Scotsman completed high school without much emphasis on academics. Capaldi began by producing his music and releasing it on his YouTube and SoundCloud accounts, hoping for a professional debut. Ryan Walter discovered him and helped him remove his first single, “Bruises,” on March 31, 2017. Thanks to the song, he became the fastest unsigned artist to reach a quarter million Spotify plays. Because of the song’s success, he signed deals with Virgin EMI Records and Capitol Records. Later that month, he released his first EP, “Bloom EP.” Capaldi, a rising star, was invited to open for several well-known bands and musicians, including Rag’n’Bone Man and Milky Chance. His tour performances eventually drew the attention of Niall Horan, who later invited him to support him on two dates of his “Flicker World Tour” in March 2018. Months later, he opened for Sam Smith on his “The Thrill of It All” European Tour. Throughout the summer of 2018, Capaldi performed at several well-known festivals, including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and the Reading & Leeds Festival. Later that month, Capaldi released his second EP, “Breach,” which included his breakthrough single “Someone You Loved.” The song became his first No. 1 single on the UK Singles Chart, where it remained for seven weeks. The song was a sleeper hit in the United States, peaking at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 after 18 weeks. Following the single’s success, the singer announced in April 2019 that he would embark on an arena tour the following year. His tour tickets sold out in ten minutes, making him the first artist in history to announce and sell out an arena tour before releasing a debut album. His debut studio album, “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent,” was released in May and quickly became the year’s best-selling album. It topped the charts in the United Kingdom for five weeks and was certified Gold.
