Wage Support Exclusion in the UK leads to 6 more suicides

ExcludedUK Campaign reported the growing number of suicide cases amongst those who have been excluded by the government’s wage support scheme. Anika Khan reports.

Three million people living in the UK are not eligible for the Job Retention Scheme (JRS) or the Self- Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS). This has lead to an increase in suicide cases around the UK.

On Sunday, another potential suicide was averted by the campaign team. The woman previously posted on ExcludedUK’s private group that she wanted to take her life.

This post was followed by hundreds of members who tried to talk her out of it. Some tried to contact the woman in person. A few there drove to her house to stop her from committing suicide.

The group ExcludedUK has taken the initiative to talk someone down from the brick of suicide every day in Britain.

The groups blamed Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s absurd policies for driving these people to take such drastic measures. PM Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak have been running around the bush, trying to avoid the media queries about the recent incidents. They have shared their worries but failed to even come up with a solution for this crisis.

They said, “This is beyond unbearable. It’s not what we ‘like,’ it’s what we need … We’re sitting here dreading hearing the news that yet another person has died”.

Labour party leaders, groups, and other campaigns are urging Rishi Sunak to provide a safety net for people who have fallen through the cracks.
