Volcano eruption in New Zealand leaves five dead

An eruption that took place on White Island in New Zealand has ended up killing five people and left up to twenty people injured. Police have also confirmed that more survivors are not expected to be found.
Several helicopters had been sent into the region to look for survivors by carrying out aerial reconnaissance flights . The police said, No signs of life have been seen at any point”.
They also said, “Police believe that anyone who could have been taken from the island alive was rescued at the time of the evacuation.”
Officers are said to be working “urgently” so that they can confirm the exact number of casualties as soon as possible. Reports suggest that around two dozen people remain missing and uncounted for.
Rescue faced several obstacles such ash fall and toxic gasses while searching the island.
According to local police, there were approximately 50 people present, out of which 20 were Australian tourists.
