UK under new Lockdown: 10 Things You Need To Know

England is going to enter its toughest nationwide Lockdown as new figures warn that the country is on its course to exceed 100,000 COVID related deaths by the end of January.

Here are ten things you need to know about the latest developments in rules on lockdown:

  • All Schools are switched to remote learning until mid of February
  • People must stay at home- exceptions to go to work, buy essentials, and medicine.
  • All non-essential retail and hospitality must remain closed.
  • Places of worship and playgrounds can remain open but subject to social distancing.
  • This time the lockdown is expected to last for seven weeks.
  • The situation took a serious turn after the nation witnessed catastrophic figures for hospital admissions.
  • NHS workers are understaffed and overworked. Boris said that “there is a material risk of the NHS in several areas being overwhelmed over the next 21 days”.
  • The country’s admission is 40% above the peak admissions during the first wave back in April.
  • The people are asked to reschedule traveling plans as most of the country’s borders are sealed and flights canceled.
  • The unpreceded rise in COVID-cases has shed grim concerns across the nation. The second wave has hit England the hardest.

PM Boris Johnson has warned that the weeks ahead, “will be the hardest yet”. He took to twitter urging people to stay home and protect the NHS.

Other UK leaders have also announced new restrictions as the new strain of Covid-19 continues to increases the number of infections and rampage England.
