Tuk Cakes Review

I stumbled upon this little gem at Resorts World entirely by accident, but I after trying out the products Tuk Cakes had to offer, I was absolutely delighted with this unexpected finding!
Tuk Cakes caught my attention whilst browsing the Birmingham shopping centre in an instant; its charming vintage theme and complementary colour scheme was pleasing to the eye, and its set-up was particularly curious (a retro style van holding a glass display of incredible looking sweet treats stands out, that’s for sure).
Upon speaking with the stall holders I found out more about the brand and the story behind Tuk Cakes. The menu was actually developed by Resorts World’s pastry team, headed up by Head Pastry Chef, Darryl Collins, and Sous Chef, Bharat Chandegra.
The pair recently appeared on Channel 4’s Bake Off: The Professionals, where they made it to the final. They have produced their very own exclusive menu of handcrafted items including macarons, chocolate bon-bons, eclairs and petits gâteaux.
From first glance it is obvious that Tuk Cakes is a premium patisserie brand. The cute and colourful treats on display are eye-catching and carefully crafted – they almost look too good to eat!
I opted for a Peanut Butter & Jelly macaron, because its vibrant green colour and plump appearance had my mouth watering! The sizeable sweet was the perfect consistency and had a lovely jelly filling.
The Strawberries & Cream petits gâteaux looked every inch the sensational sweet treat, and it certainly delivered on taste, balancing out the flavours with its creamy and fruity components.
The mini chocolate bon-bons have great finesse; they are slight yet beautifully decorated, and promise an excellent flavour sensation (the Orange Curd & Raspberry variety was my favourite).
Tuk Cakes is open at Resorts World from Thursday to Sunday (opening times vary), and I certainly recommend you pay them a visit. The goodies are indulgent, yet reasonably priced, so you can treat yourself without having to spend too much.
This is a good thing, because you won’t be able to choose just one item – the temptation to try one of each is just too strong!
