Tom Hardy is all set to star in the Netflix action film “Havoc”, which will be written and directed by Gareth Evans; the director of the critically acclaimed martial arts films “The Raid” and “The Raid 2”.
Havoc will be the first film to be released by Evans as part of his multi-year creative partnership with Netflix as both director and producer. Hardy, the star of the film, will also be a co-producer alongside Evans and his frequent collaborators, Ed Talfan and Aram Tertzakian (XYZ Films).
In the upcoming action project Hardy is going to portray the role of a detective who rescues a politician’s estranged son while unravelling a web of corruption and conspiracy that has trapped the city. The news is shared by Netflix on Twitter.
Evans, considered one of the masters of action movies, edits and choreographs his films. He has been highly praised for the visceral, yet brutal action choreography of his Indonesian martial arts flicks Marantau and The Raid. Evans previously worked with Netflix and XYZ Films for his 2018 horror film Apostle, starring Dan Stevens. His last work, the British TV series titled “Gangs of London”, is a mettlesome tale of crime which he co-created.
Currently scheduled for a June 25, 2021 opening, with the Sony picture “Venom: Let There Be Carnagein”, Hardy will reprise his role as the Spider-Man anti-hero on big-screen. Hardy notably worked with director Christopher Nolan on both Inception and in The Dark Knight Rises, later starring again in Nolan’s Dunkirk in 2017.
