Tiniest Baby of The World Born in California

A baby girl named Saybie born at 23 weeks, 3 days’ gestation at Sharp Mary Birch hospital of San Diego in December, 2018 has now become world’s tiniest surviving baby who is also a healthy infant.
The hospital revealed in a statement on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 that the girl is believed to be the world’s tiniest surviving baby, who weighed just 245 grams.
The baby were in the hospital for five months as she was under weight. Saybie’s mother was 23 weeks and 3 days pregnant when the baby was not gaining weight in the womb after the mother developed pre-eclampsia and experiencing discomfort.
Doctor’s advise was to have immediate deliver due to severe pregnancy complications.
The parents were told by the doctors that the ‘micro preemie’ may not survive.
“They told my husband we had about an hour with her and that she was going to pass away. But that hour turned into two hours, which turned into a day, which turned into a week,” said Saybie’s mom.

“Saybie had the lowest medically confirmed birth weight submitted to the registry,” said Dr. Edward Bell, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Iowa.
Saybie ranked as the world’s smallest baby ever to survive by the University of Iowa who maintained the Tiniest Baby registry, informed the hospital.
The baby’s family gave permission to share the story but wanted to stay anonymous.
However, the baby is healthy condition.
