'Timeless' Un-Cancelled: Revived for Two-Parte-Finale

NBC is bringing back the recently cancelled series Timeless for a two-part series finale. It will allow the massive cliffhanger at the end of the second season to be resolved as well as giving fans a proper conclusion as the story finally wraps up.
The series was cancelled after it’s first season due to lackluster viewer ratings but was resurrected three days later by NBC due to the passionate fan base flooding NBC with support for the show. NBC ended up giving the series a 10 episode second season that premiered on 1 March.
In June, NBC cancelled the time travel drama from Sony Pictures Television and executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke after two seasons. It was the second cancellation for Timeless.
Fans of Timeless have, since May when the show did not appear on NBC’s 2018-19 lineup at upfronts, campaigned on its behalf in the hopes that another platform would revive it. NBC declined to commit to a third season, and the actors’ contracts expired on 1 July. But support from the show’s “Clockblocker” fans, including a helicopter flown over Comic-Con in San Diego this month, swayed the network.
Season two of this thrilling action-adventure series picks up right where we left off with our heroes. We continue to race throughout history with the team: Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), a scientist; Wyatt (Matt Lanter), a soldier; and Lucy (Abigail Spencer), a history professor, in an attempt to prevent the destruction of our world as we all know it.
NBC is clearly aware of the success of Timeless outside of its soft 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers. What makes those modest live-plus numbers impressive, however, is what a great percentage of them come in after live viewings. The most recent season of Timeless improved 100 percent within a week of time-shifting.
No date has officially been set by NBC for the two-part series finale, but the special could air this winter.
