Broadstairs Folk Week

5-12 Aug

Broadstairs Folk Week

This festival takes place in Broadstairs, England. This is a traditional folk music festival that remains right at the heart of Folk Week. Over the past 55 years, this festival has become a magnet for people who love authentic music and the opportunity to meet up with an extended family of every generation. Broadstairs festival-goers love discovering new bands, seeing old favourites, and chancing upon things you would never expect to see at a folk festival. Spiers and Boden, The Magpie Arc, Doyle-McCusker-McGoldrick, and Flook will grace the stage.

Margate Pride Festival

13 Aug

Margate Pride Festival

Margate Pride is excited to be hosting the parade once more along the Margate seafront. This festival is focusing on making space for our community, community groups, and charities. As stated in its mission, Margate Pride seeks to advance equity and justice for LGBTQIA+ people in all communities across Margate and beyond. They represent many intersections and want to give a platform to them by inviting community groups and charities to the parade. As part of its environmental commitment, they are organizing a no-float parade. Vehicles are not required to show their commitment to LGBTQIA+ rights and share the love. They also want to connect more to Pride’s roots as a protest march. As inequalities thrive in the world for LGBTQIA+ people, this is an opportunity to show solidarity.
