Thom Southern drops new single ‘Tongue Tied’

Irish singer-songwriter Thom Southern returns by revealing a brand new single ‘Tongue Tied’. He also comes alongside the announcement of his debut album ‘Plaza’.

Showcasing a unique brand of shoe-gaze-influenced alt-indie pop at its very best, packed with baggy acoustics, fuzzy guitar hooks, hypnotic drums, and sweet melodic vocals; today’s brand new self-produced single takes things up a notch for the exciting alternative songwriter.

Being the first single to be lifted from his upcoming debut album, it was also born from the first idea that Thom started developing when he moved into his new Liverpool apartment. That time he set up a home studio at the beginning of springtime this year.

Inspired by artists like The War On Drugs, (Sandy) Alex G, Beck and The American Analog Set this fuzzy love song dictated what became a prolific time for Thom this year in Liverpool, further honing his craft not only as a songwriter but as a producer too. Speaking about the single, Thom says,

“I wanted to write a kind of ironic pop love song about those first feelings when you meet someone and you both don’t really know if you’re into each other, it’s exciting but also leaves you feeling a bit lost. When you finally tell one another you feel the same it’s magic”

The new track comes with a stylized psychedelic art-rock video directed by Thom and featuring London-based model/photographer Charlotte Alex.

‘Plaza’ the debut album by Thom Southern is out on 11th February 2022.
