Ex-Jellyfish members reunite as THE LICKERISH QUARTET for an incredible new EP. Adam Humphries reports.
Now you may have heard of the following; Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, Slash’s Snake Pit, Finn Brothers, Alice Cooper, Air, and Beck. Well, I’ve heard of at least three of them and are fans of their music as well. However, if you have not then you could very well have heard of their side project, The Lickerish Quartet, and if you haven’t heard of them either well you are about to.
Roger Joseph Manning Jr., Tim Smith, and Eric Dover who form the band has a new EP coming out on 8th Jan 2021 via British Indie label Lojinx. One of the singles from it is called Snollygoster Goon, yes, it’s a weird name that sounds like something you’d hear in the playground but don’t let that put you off.
Musically, it sounds like a bizarre eclectic mix which quickly takes on some sort of structure and begins to sound less weird. Ironically, the word Snollgoster Goon is the very first word you hear but then it starts to sound like something you would hear from either Beck or High-Flying’s catalogue. The song is packed with punk-type guitar riffs, group vocals and energetic drum beat.
If you want to check out what they did for the video, use the link below. It’s like a weird but intriguing homage to the world of bizarre artistic creative expression from the era of psychedelic 70’s prog/punk movement.
