The activists of Extinction Rebellion (XR) and Palestine Action protested against the Israeli attack on the unarmed Palestinians. The protesters blocked the entrance of an Israeli arms company’s headquarters in London.
XR and Palestine Action
The activists of XR and Palestine Action targeted the London headquarter of Israel’s largest private weaponry firm. In recent days, Israeli forces attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque, in Jerusalem, while people were praying during the month of Ramadan.
The youth subdivision of Extinction Rebellion collaborated with the Palestine Action group to execute the plan on Wednesday. The activists said that they wanted to demonstrate unity to the unarmed Palestinians who were worshiping during the brutal attack. Israeli forces even used stun grenades, tear gas, and rubber bullets on them during the attack. Reports show that over 300 people were arrested, and around 160 got hurt.
Elbit Weapons
According to the protesters, the products used during that brutal attack in Jerusalem were manufactured as well as distributed by the same company. So, as a part of their continuous demonstration, they decided to block the main entrance of that company headquarters located in London. They claimed that unarmed civilians got arrested as well as injured in Jerusalem and the company had played a role in that brutal attack.
The Movement
The activists of Extinction Rebellion (XR) and Palestine Action are protesting to shut down the factories of Elbit as well as their offices located in the UK. According to the reports, the company is responsible for about 85% of the total supplies of the Israeli military’s drone armada. And their supplies are used widely in different attacks on Gaza.
The activists of the youth subdivision of the Extinction Rebellion explained their participation in the movement by saying that they are against all forms of illegal occupation, state-funded militarised terrorism, and imperial and colonial dispossession of local people.
Extinction Rebellion mainly fights for the climate crises and ecological balance. Their main purpose behind protesting along with Palestine Action is to send a direct message to everyone about the direct connection between arms and ecological imbalance.
