Tasty Tuesday: Traditional Jamaican Turkey recipe!

  • Are you ready to try something non-traditional at Christmas? How about Jamaican Jerk Turkey for the holiday?  Forget the traditional turkey this holiday and try our delicious Jamaican Jerk Turkey recipe.

Ingredients:

  • A turkey  12-14 pound
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 3 cups  Mamma Gwenny’s Authentic Caribbean Jerk Seasoning.http://www.mammagwennys.co.uk/
  • Turkey Injector
  • Turkey Roasting bags
  • Roasting Pan
  • Pimento wood  Alderwood Chips (optional)

Method:

  1. Take 5 tablespoons of the Mamma Gwenny’s Jerk Seasoning/Sauce and mix with the butter and olive oil.
  2. Inject the turkey with the mixture.
  3. Rub the remaining Jerk Seasoning/Sauce on the outside and inside of the turkey.
  4. Leave the turkey covered at room temperature for 3-4 hours.
  5. This will allow the seasoning to marinate into the meat.
  6. Put in the refrigerator to marinate overnight.
  7. Put the turkey on a coal barbeque grill/ smoker grill and cover it.
  8. Set the oven to 325 degrees and cook the turkey for 3 hours. 
  9. As the turkey cooks, baste frequently, using the mixture that was injected into the legs and the breast.
  10. When the turkey is cooked stuff the turkey to your liking and then put back in the oven at a low temperature to keep it warm.
  11. Remove the turkey 20 minutes before carving.
