Sunday Social: 5 ways to celebrate Holi-at-Home

‘Holi’ known as the ‘Festival of Spring’ or the ‘Festival of Colors’ is one of those days where everyone comes together to celebrate and bring positivity to their lives. Given the present times, it is not possible to celebrate Holi like we used to. But that doesn’t mean Holi is canceled. From indulging in Barfis to rekindling colors in your life, we bring you 5 unique ways to celebrate Holi while staying at home during this pandemic.

1. Prepare Holi-special food at Home

To invoke the festive spirit, make a few ravishing Holi dishes that are usually made in this festival including gujia, pakoras, barfi’s, thandai, etc. Involve your family and make a fun cooking session out of it.

2. Holi on your rooftop

Who said you cannot play with colors due to the pandemic. Just opt for playing Holi on your balcony or rooftop with your family members to have a blast! Take out those pichkaris and props!

3. Dance to Holi Songs

There are many wonderful songs that can instantly get you in the Holi spirit. From ‘Balam pichkari’ to ‘Rang Barse’, get your holi spirit ready and dance away to glory.

4.Prepare Holi-Gifts for loved ones

Only because you cannot be with your friends should not stop you from showering them with love. Prepare Holi-gift baskets and send them over before the festival to show them that you miss them.

5. Give Charity to your community

Although you might be privileged enough to spend this festival with your family at home, there are many out there living in shelters, orphanages, and streets. This Holi prepares goody packs and homemade food for the less privileged in your community and brings joy to their faces. Make sure to take extra precautions while distributing your goodie bags.

Let’s not let the Pandemic steal our Holi Spirits. There are ways we can still celebrate by taking extra precautions so that once we manage to control the new Virus completely, we can go about playing with colors in fields while dancing to music and devouring good food with everyone.
