Strike in Action: Bins overflow in Edinburgh

The strike is in action as related to the industrial action leaves the litter bins overflowing in the capital city of Edinburgh. The Scottish government has asked to take action related to strike-busting. A Tory advises it MSP today. The cleansing staff who were working for the Edinburgh City Council have gone on a strike. The strike came into action on Friday due to a dispute over payment.

This strike by the members of GMB and Unite will continue till 30 August. Miles Briggs, the Scottish Conservative local government spokesman today demanded strike-busting action. The strike-busting action should include working with private companies to clear up the streets. He asked the SNP government to now look into the matter. An action related to the strike is causing an International embarrassment for Edinburgh and Scotland. Prevention is very important in this case.


The rubbish which has been piling up in the streets is risking damage to the city’s reputation. Nicola Sturgeon the first minister told that she said an improvement related to the pay deal will be implemented. The governing body of Cosla will be doing this. The implements would increase the wages by 5 percent which would work in resolving the dispute. She said no one would address the way of disruption and impact of the strikes. The people of Edinburgh are facing this issue right now.
She addressed that as the challenging time called for inflation which was soaring up and figures doubling more than usual. The reason behind this is enforcing the Scottish government which is determined to give as much related to the fair pay of deals. Alison Maclean of Unite has mentioned that a 5 percent offer will show an improvement. It is very important to know the time when the retail price index hit 12.3 percent.
The strikes are to continue for the next week. Alex Cole-Hamilton, the Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader, representing the Edinburgh Western at Holyrood refuses an opinion. The opinion is that he refuses that the workers are facing the cost of living crisis.
