The serial killer finally identified after 30 years in South Korea on Thursday, who has been the country’s most ferocious murderer, killed atleast 10 women in the same city.
According to the police the man’s DNA matches samples taken from evidence collected from some of the crime scenes.
Senior police officer Ban Gi-soo said police have proceeded with their examination concerning the 1986-1991 slayings even after the legal time limit terminated 13 years back so as to discover the reality.
The innovative improvement of DNA investigation enabled specialists to separate DNA tests from proof that was beyond the realm of imagination at the hour of the cases, said Ban.
According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, the man is in his 50s but did not give any further details.
Following the South Korea’s statute of limitations on the cases ran out in 2006, the criminal will not get any punishment.
In spite of the legal time limit running out, police kept up records of their examinations and kept making looks into the cases, Ban Gi-Soo, the executive of the Hwaseong sequential homicide examination group, said Thursday.
Ban said police will continue their DNA analysis and investigation as they seek to link the suspect to all of the cases.
