Selena Gomez announces new mental health platform

Selena Gomez is a proud supporter of mental health. In 2022, she’ll be taking her support a step further by launching her own media platform devoted to the cause.

The name of the platform is Wondermind. It will be an online space that fosters a community around mental health. It provides tools and resources for those hoping to strengthen their “mental fitness,” with “no judgment, just progress.”

“To us, mental fitness means creating a routine; working through your feelings to better understand your mind,” the Wondermind site reads. “It means committing to a daily practice, even when you feel out of your comfort zone (which shows it’s working!).”

Wondermind is a collaboration between Selena, her mother Mandy Teefey, and founder and CEO of The Newsette, Daniella Pierson. All three women have experienced mental health struggles and recognized a digital void. There was no media platform that supported or encouraged people as they worked through their mental wellbeing. Selena says in the Wondermind welcome video,

“I’m so excited about Wondermind, because I want there to be a place of people coming together and understanding that they’re not alone.”

“Your mind is truly like a muscle, and to work on it every single day, it does require content and tools, and we’re so happy to deliver that to you all,” Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson adds in the welcome video.

This isn’t the first effort Selena has made towards destigmatizing mental health. For years, the singer has been vocal about her relationship with social media. The impact had on her mental health and has spoken publicly about her experiences with anxiety and depression.

Wondermind is set to launch in February 2022. Watch the welcome video below.
