The Mayor of London has invested over £25m on numerous projects to help young Londoners develop useful skills for their future careers – especially those from a black, Asian or other ethnic minority background.
Sadiq Khan is set to invest a grand total of £25m to boost young Londoners’ skills through the Skills for Londoners Capital Fund over the next four years. The funds will be granted to educational and training projects across all industries all over London.
The Mayor’s office is determined and committed to making sure that projects and institutions receive the funding they need to help London’s future workforce develop useful skills to meet the needs of businesses across the city.
“London’s economy is changing and I’m determined to lead by example when it comes to helping build the workforce of the future in the capital”, said Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London. “The increase of globalisation and automation in the workplace brings both challenges and opportunities and we’re addressing this head on through our Skills for Londoners Strategy.
“We are also making the case to the government for London to have greater powers and resources in this area, so we can ensure all Londoners have the opportunity to train in the skills the city’s businesses need”.
