EU wants Northern Ireland to stay in Single Market after Brexit

The matter of the status of Northern Ireland once the United Kingdom leaves the European Union is the most worrying and complicated aspect in the Brexit negotiations.
If Northern Ireland were to be removed from the single market and the customs union along with the rest of the UK, there would be a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic to the South which could prove to be problematic and bring about an escalation of hostilities.
The current EU draft withdrawal agreement will stipulate that Northern Ireland is to remain in the customs union and single market after Brexit. It is not in the interest of Ireland, who will remain a member of the EU, and the people of Northern Ireland to have a hard border.
Talks on this particular aspect of the Brexit negotiations have been very difficult because the situation of Northern Ireland is a unique one. There were fears that a row would break out among all participating sides.
A lot is to be considered when trying to reach a verdict on what is to happen to Northern Ireland once the UK leaves the EU. First of all, the economies of Ireland and Northern Ireland are intricately entwined and many cross-border lives. There is also the violent history of the division of the nation to be considered.
It is believed that the UK will sign off on this EU decision. This is bound to cause friction in Parliament. The Conservatives could lose the support from the Northern Ireland DUP, who are pro-Brexit and whose ten seats give them the majority in Westminster.
