Russia-Ukraine War- What We Know On Day 17

Sixteen days have passed since Russia has started the invasion of Ukraine.

The satellite image shows that Russian militaries are heading towards Kyiv and few kilometers far from the capital.

Here we will let you know the latest updates on the Russia-Ukraine war.

1. According to the UK’s latest Defense Intelligence report, Russian militaries are around 25 kilometers far from the capital Kyiv and they are attacking the local residence. Air raid sirens were heard in the early Saturday morning. Ukraine’s local media reported that two oil depots are on fire caused by the Russian force’s bomb.

2. Ukraine President Zelenskiy accused Russia has hired murderers from Syria. Syria’s military has begun recruiting troops from its ranks to fight alongside Russian forces in Ukraine. According to the president, Russia also promised to pay them $3000 per month for their service.

3. President Zelenskiy also accused Belarus of planning to join the Russian invasion. Belarus’s chief of general staff Victor Gulevich denied the allegation and confirmed that they have no plan to enter into the war.

4. On Friday UN security council discussed Russian claims on the US for funding ‘military biological activities’ in Ukraine.   No decisions have been made yet but both US and Ukraine have denied the allegation.

5. On the other hand US has warned the world that there is a huge possibility of using chemical and biological weapons by Russia. Britain also supported the claims saying, “Russia has a track record of falsely accusing other countries of the very violations that Russia itself is perpetrating.”

6. Russia also warned that if any country continues arm shipment to Ukraine during this period, they will be Russia’s legitimate targets.

7. Western intelligent agencies discovered a cyber attack by unidentified hackers which disrupted broadband satellite internet access in Ukraine. Reuters found the direct involvement of three people in the incident.

8. Deutsche Bank and Sony Pictures banned Russia from doing any business using their services. According to a statement from Deutsche Bank said, “it was in the process of winding down our remaining business in Russia”.
