For many this timeless tale has become an essential part of Christmas, and as we discovered, there is no more magical way of experiencing The Snowman than by watching it alongside a live professional orchestra.
We were looking for a festive treat for the whole family, and this inspired event by Carrot Productions turned out to be the perfect place, appealing to all ages – including our youngest family member who is only 9 months! It made our Christmas seeing her eyes light up at the beautiful animations, and her wave along to the wonderful music.
We gathered together in the gorgeous surroundings of Lichfield Cathedral, part of this seventh annual tour of live performances which also graced cathedrals including Salisbury, Coventry, Winchester, Chester, Liverpool and Ely, to enjoy Raymond Briggs’ classic but in a completely new, immersive way. The atmosphere and acoustics of the setting were ideal.
Our highlight of the evening was the performance by the young girl who was the soloist for the famous Walking in the Air song – we were all in absolute awe at how someone so young could sing with such power.
We cannot recommend seeing this for yourselves enough! While the festive season may be over, there are still plenty more opportunities to enjoy Carrot Productions’ events, including Wallace & Gromit: In Concert and when The Snowman tours again next December.
