Review: From Broadway to Hollywood

From Broadway to Hollywood was a real visual delight.
We were in awe during the stunning opening sequence, which featured the most amazing dresses, although of course the performers were wearing the most glamorous of outfits throughout the entire showcase.
We enjoyed an incredible version of Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’, which had lots of vibrant colours and props, and the dancing was supported by a truly great-sounding live orchestra.
As well as wonderful song and dance, there was plenty of banter during the show. Anton Du Beke was constantly cracking jokes, for example about Ruth Langsford, Brendan Cole and former partners he had on Strictly Come Dancing. He took the mick out of Ann Widdecombe, although he did admit she was his favourite dance partner!
There was gossip galore, as Erin Boag revealed that Julian Clary loved a couple of glasses of wine before a performance, meaning we were kept truly entertained with juicy tidbits of behind-the-scenes information.
What stood out for us was Anton’s great strength and stamina. His ‘Do Your Thing’ dance was very strenuous and the energetic routine emphasised just how fit he is. As well as the fast-paced moves, the dancers had lights on their wrists, which added to the visual effect of the piece.
A Q&A section shown Anton’s quick-wittedness, and he got the crowd laughing with his charisma and humour. It came to light during this segment that Penelope Cruz is his dream dance partner. There was also a serious element, however, as Anton told everyone during the interview that the late Bruce Forsyth was his hero.
Overall, there was amazing instruments, brilliantly clear vocals and varied dance routines that were so perfectly polished they proved a real testament to Eric and Anton’s talent. Having danced together for 21 years, it is safe to say they have established an impressive connection and are so in sync it is a joy to behold. Well worth a watch!
