Reflecting on Beyonce’s Lemonade

Beyoncé is famous for her ability to create empowering music, especially when it comes to
highlighting the racial struggles of black women. Lara Tarabey reports.

Songs such as ‘Freedom’ and ‘Formation’ from her album ‘Lemonade’ describe the civil rights
movement and the historical impact of slavery in the black community, which is particularly pressing
given the current climate in America.

These songs reflect on the struggles that Black men and women have faced, and continue to face, in
America today.

Beyoncé uses different genres of music such as reggae, blues, gospel and country throughout this
the album which makes it fit for everyone.
