Greenpeace said about the alternatives that can be adapted which include the reuse and refill system. The system concerns the reuse and refill system should immediately and quickly be scaled. The goal can be achieved by involving the companies for the greater good. The companies should further not use recycling as a smokescreen. Even if it meant to divert attention from the developmental change that is required it should be practiced.

U.S households generate an estimated 51 million tons of plastic waste in 2021. The rate of recycling only stands at 2.4 million which is less in number. Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastic Economy Initiative allows no plastic meets recycling. The recycling of plastic production has declined by 5-6% in 2021 which is lessened from 2014. 2014 has recorded a 9.5% recycling 2014 and 8.7% in 2018. The US also exported millions of tons of plastic waste to China and counted as recycled though it was burned or dumped.
