On Saturday women and girls in Afghanistan joined a protest before of Taliban’s Ministry of Education in Kabul.
Protesters gathered together before of Taliban soldiers to reopen girl’s secondary schools in Afghanistan.
Primary girl’s schools in Afghanistan are still open but the protesters calls to open all the faculties in order that older girls also can join them.
The protesters chanted, “Education is our right – open the doors of girls’ schools!” as armed Taliban members looked on.
The Taliban’s Education Ministry said girls’ secondary schools would restart on Wednesday last week, but the choice was overruled by the group’s central leadership, who said they’d remain closed until a “comprehensive” and “Islamic” plan had been called for.
An Afghan charity called PenPath, which runs dozens of “secret” schools with thousands of volunteers, plans to stage countrywide protests demanding the Taliban reverse its order, said Matiullah Wesa, PenPath’s founder.
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan said, “I am hopeful we are going to see a reversal of this decision within the coming days.”
“The US had cancelled economic meetings with the Taliban in Doha,” he added.
In Northern Afghanistan local Taliban’s allowed teenage girls to continue their study but not other provinces.
