Guitar 3 chords playing with 4/4 rhythm

  • Chords: You’ll be playing the D major chord throughout.
  • Rhythm: 4/4 time signature means there are four beats per measure.
  • Strumming: There are many ways to strum, but a simple approach for beginners is a down strum on each beat. So, you would strum down four times per measure (each D chord).
  • Practice: Start slow and focus on smoothly changing chords while keeping a steady rhythm.
  • Experiment: Once comfortable, try different strumming patterns like down-up-down-up or muted strums for variation.

Ukulele Strumming in 3/4 Time

  • Feel the Waltz: A 3/4 rhythm is like a waltz, with 3 beats per measure. Count them out: one, two, three, one, two, three.
  • Basic Strum: Strum down (pick towards the floor) on the first beat. Then, strum twice upwards (picks away from the floor) on beats two and three.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: Use a metronome or online drum loop to practice keeping a steady rhythm.
  • Mix it Up: Try variations! All down strums or a down-down-up pattern can add flavor.
  • Chord Fun: Once comfortable, switch between easy chords like C, G, Am, and F as you strum.
