Philippine Typhoon: Death Toll Rises to 13

Typhoon Kammuri, hit Philippines last Monday and took at least 13 people’s life.
The local disaster agency said in a report that five people died in central Bicol region with three who drowned and five more were killed in a region south of the capital.
Three other people were killed in two provinces in the north and central Philippines, according to local news reports.
According to the disaster agencies, precautions and compulsory evacuations are key concern for preventing more damage.
Thousands of residences were rapidly depleted from the affected areas and same process is going on.
Hundreds of flights schedule had been cancelled for the disaster.
It also disrupted the schedule for some events in the SEA Games, which opened in the Philippines last Saturday and runs until Dec 11.
About 345,000 people are still in evacuation centers who are waiting for the authorities’ approval for returning home.
Disaster agency spokesman Mark Timbal said, “The storm left the usual damage of major storms such as fallen trees, and ruined roofs of houses and some government facilities.”
“Forced evacuations and preparations prevented greater loss of life,” he added.
Each year, an average of 20 typhoons hit the Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands.
