Netflix announced Hollywood star Nicolas Cage is set to host a new scripted six-part docu-series. Puza Snigdha reports.
‘History of Swear Words’ will premiere on 5 January.
Each episode will be 20 minutes long and will explore the origins, pop culture-usage, science and cultural impact of curse words including “fuck,” “shit,” “bitch,” “dick,” “pussy” and “damn.”.
Through the show Cage will interview historians and etymology experts, as well as a range of entertainers.
The show will also include guests including Jim Jefferies, Zainab Johnson, Joel Kim Booster, Nikki Glaser, Open Mike Eagle, Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
Funny or Die and B17 Entertainment are producing the series, and Bellamie Blackstone is the executive producer.
Netflix has released trailer featuring Cage delivering a passionate monologue about a word he seems to hold very dear: pussy.
“It is a thing of great wonder and mystery, quivering with great strength and resilience,” Cage says in the trailer.
For Cage, this is the first time in his career that he is leading a TV series.
However, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” is Cage’s upcoming meta action comedy film. Cage is playing a fictionalized version of himself who tries to save his family from a crazy superfan.
