Newcastle Pride festival is organized by LGBT charity Northern Pride who has a mission to reduce homophobia, promote awareness of equality and to unite LGBT communities across the region by staging a series of events which brings the community altogether in an environment where they all can feel safe, happy and ultimately be themselves.
The popular Pride weekend will take place on 20-22 July with a whole host of entertainment and events. The festival has moved from the Town Moor to a new location, Nuns Moor Park and the acts will perform under a big top tent with a capacity of more than 15,000.
Events that had already been announced include the ground-breaking X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and chart-topping band S Club are the first acts lined up to perform at this festival supported by NE1.
West End leading man Gareth Gates, X Factor stars Jack and Joel and The Voice 2016 favourite, Jordan Gray, will be joining with Alexandra and S club across the weekend.
The festival director Stephen Willis said, “There’s a lot to look forward to this year and we’re extremely lucky to have so many talented acts across both days.”
Along with the pride weekend, there will be a number of events in the weeks running up to the festival at venues around Newcastle.
