Line-Up for Robert Smith's Meltdown Festival Starts to Take Shape

The first artists for this year’s Meltdown Festival, which will be curated by The Cure’s Robert Smith, have been announced. The line-up has started to take shape and it promises to be a legendary festival!
The presence of The Libertines, Deftones and Manic Street Preachers have all been confirmed, along with others such as My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo and many more.
Robert Smith – who was the lead singer, guitarist, lyricist and the chief songwriter for legendary band The Cure – is the latest musician to become the curator of this prestigious festival in what is its 25th anniversary.
The first announced acts are proof that this year’s edition of the Meltdown Festival is going to be superb – Smith is bringing together acts that have changed the world of music for the past 40 years and who have greatly inspired a host of new talent.
The line-up includes artists from all across the world and from a wide range of genres, including indie, pop, glam, industrial, shoegaze, post-rock, electro and metal. More artists are still to be announced for this year’s Meltdown Festival.
Meltdown Festival is by far the best and longest established artist-curated celebration of music and previous curators have included heavyweights such as John Peel, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono and David Bowie. Last year’s curator was M.I.A.
This year’s Meltdown Festival will be taking place at the Southbank Centre in London from 15 – 24 June. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here.
