Last Day in LA is the new single by London-based quartet, Healthy Junkies, and for a record that’s nearly two and a half minutes long, it’s worth a listen to.
Healthy Junkies have seen making their own music since 2013 and have gradually built themselves a following since. Last Day in LA is a powerful mixture of psychedelic rock, punk, grunge, goth, and new-wave along with fast-paced riffs and energetic vocals courtesy of frontwoman, Nina Courson. From what can be said of her is that she is one incredible front-woman. If you have not heard it yet, please be prepared, as it is addictive listening and one you will almost certainly want to listen to again and again.
As a front-woman, Nina Courson’s vocals just cut through the sound like glass and yet manages to be smooth and soft like honey at the same time. She is a vocal force to be reckoned with.
Basically, put this one on your playlist cos in all likeliness that is where it should be. Utterly impressive.
The song itself came together after its members got together and began combining their passions for music and writing songs. And this one is about the magnetic pull to the ‘City of Angles’ which is ironic as it definitely has that American-style musical feel to it.
The band’s album, Forever on The Road, on which this single appears was made whilst in a period of quarantine (and it might not have been you know which one) and is out next month on the 25th September 2020.
