Music Monday: Top Music of the Week!

This week, WhatsOn music editors bring you the top songs to listen to this week. Don’t forget to add them to your playlist!

‘Critter’ – Drive Through Hazy

Directly from Nottingham where are lot of musical greats have come from over the past few years. Trip-hop duo consisting of Bridget Holmes and Joe Antill who make Drive Through Hazy and they have a new single which is actually brilliant. Critter has smooth ambient sounds that are calm and steady yet don’t lose their energy, Bridget’s voice however is soft and utterly haunting yet you can’t draw your ears from her. Keep your eyes and ears on this duo, there’s definitely something about them.

‘Stitches’ – Baytrees

This new up-and-coming four piece from Brixton, London, and they have got a story to tell. Stitches is a soulful R&B track that starts out on a slow pace beat before picking up the pace and becoming more energised. Their new song is about growing up the trials and tribulations of youth, looking back through your own nostalgia and dealing with personal loss. Mensah Hart who is the lead singer has the sort of voice that carries emotion to the point where you can understand and possibly feel what he’s feeling from the moment he begins singing.

‘Narukanaga’ new dream-pop album & ‘Bamtak’ video – Camel Power Club

Solo musician and all around music maestro, Camel, has released the official video for his latest single, Bamtak, as well as his next album which consists of 19 tracks, Narukanga. The video is creative piece in itself and definitely carries Camel’s own stamp on artistic style.

‘Mama Weja’ – Raz and Alfa

Utterly fearless, energetic and full of life from start all the way to finish. Absolutely packed with R&B vibes with and steady Afro-house beats, Alfa’s vocals just hit the spot. Now what’s clever about the song is that when you listen to the words they almost sound like spoken word incantations which give them that extra level in both energy, feel and beats. Overall a great track.

Keep your eyes out for their new 5 track EP, which is also called Mama Weja.
