Music Monday: This Week’s Favorite Tracks!

Adam Humphries, the music editor for WhatsOn, has selected some of the best and newest songs of the week. You can listen to these songs all week long and increase your productivity by doing so. The choices for this week are listed below!

Jackson Mico Milas hits a new sweet spot with – ‘Don’t You Think Of Me Once In A While

Now, what is it that many break-up songs all have in common? They all know how to pull the emotional heartstrings, as well as hit all the right chords. This is what Jackson Mica has managed to do with his latest single, “Don’t You Think Of Me Once In A While”. Jackson’s voice is both soft and melodic, as well as completely captivating. He seems straight from the heart as though he’s talking directly to the person the song is about

The video is it’s very much basic and low key and its cleverness lies within in that as the viewer you are more or less captivated I, by Jackson, himself. Simile enough, the makeup of the video does have some echo of Heart And Soul by Twin Atlantic in the use of abstractness

Jackson Mico Milas hits a new sweet spot with ‘Don’t You Think of Me Once In A While’, out 28th Oct.

The debut album ‘Blu Terra’ is out on 11th November.

Tod Lippy releases a breezy cover of Tom Petty’s – ‘Don’t Come Around Here No More!

Now when it comes to doing covers of infamous tracks, you can go one of two ways; you can either do what is infamously referred to as saying remastering or, do a complete overhaul and turn it into something different. For this, Tod Lippy has done the latter. What was an 80s energetic electro Rock tune Tod has turned into you an ambient indie sound? It’s always an interesting one when you make a song about the breakup of a relationship. You can go down the bitter and angry route, or you can go down the calm, steady, and accepting route house also main containing dignity. Now what is a genius when you listen to the opening it sounds like it’s going to go one way but then just as quickly go the opposite?

Like with Petty, Lippy doesn’t go down the angry bitter route. In the song, he just tells his ex to just leave and not come back as the love that was there where is officially gone and it’s time to accept things and move on.

Fierce new lo-fi rock n roll single from The Adam ft. Lasse Storm! – Cathy

The Adam has got together with Lasse Storm to release their latest single, Cathy. For a rock song, it isn’t actually that bad and definitely has its moments. It’s not one of your typical ‘out of love’ tracks. Frontman Adam Olssen is one of those who definitely where’s his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t hold back. Especially when talking about innermost feelings. If you’re someone who has one of those moments when you realised you let that someone slip away the more you’ll get this.

Taking inspiration from British 60s Rock, Lasse Storm comes into his own as a leading front man as it seems but something that is so familiar to many people AKA that one that got away.

MAIA BAROUH releases thought-provoking bass-loaded new album – ‘AIDA’

French Japanese artist, Maia Barough, has released her debut album, AIDA. Now it’s quite a lengthy one with 14 tracks yet very thought-provoking. As a singer-songwriter, Maia knows how to break the mold where female singers are concerned. In her debut album, she touches on the subject of feminism, misogyny, and race. There’s even an interesting one which is about not stopping where the wind takes you.

No she is not yet known on the British music scene but by the sound of her catalogue she definitely has what it takes. Maia is by no means a pushover and once she’s in your space she will not be ignored. Make no mistake, she’s got something to say, and if there ever was such a thing as the second wave of girl power Maia definitely takes it to the next level.
