Hey music lovers, here are the latest music reviews to keep you updated.

Scandinavian star SKIA releases dazzling electro-pop anthem ‘Hey Boy’

Hey Boy is the new single from Norwegian singer, Skia, and even though I’m not openly a huge fan, it is a little somewhat catchy. The lyrics are in actual fact rather well written and the song it about self-drive, determination whilst harbouring your ambitions and just ploughing ahead through all the doubts in your mind. Also, it’s about having lots of self-confidence and attempting to overcome the insecurities in your mind.

That in mind, it’s not too hard to find some positives to say about the track as it is very well put together and makes a good electronic-dance/pop track. It’s very much within the same musical vein as Robyn and Sigrid; catchy, addictive and the sort of thing you’d find yourself singing out loud to yourself after a few moments.
You may not have heard of her yet but sooner or later you will. And she’s already had much positive feedback in the UK music press, and here from yours truly as well.

The video is actually quite basic, it’s just white-coloured lyrics set against a black background. A bit like Adele’s Skyfall but even more stripped-back basic

The Lickerish Quartet unveil hazy video for ‘The Dream That Took Me Over’

The Lickerish Quartet, an eclectic music group that are made from members of Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, Slash’s Snake Pit, Finn Brothers, Alice Cooper, Air & Beck – and all formerly of Jellyfish had got together yet again to release a number. The Dream That Took Me Over is the finished product. The three musicians who made this happen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., Tim Smith and Eric have created their highly anticipated 2nd EP, Threesom Vol.2

For a song that’s four minutes and forty seconds long it’s not actually that. If I had to describe it, it’s about following a dream, with no idea where it even leads, only to then be completely consumed by that dream. In some ways it’s about being overwhelmed by inner-desire and personal addictions, added with elements of danger and surrealism. Quite an interesting combo actually.
The video for this track is actually quite a good one. It starts off with the lead singer getting into a car and driving through the streets of Los Angeles (L.A). He is then seen walking through the streets whilst looking directly into the camera whilst singing at the same time, gradually it’s later inter-cut with snippets of the other band members playing their instruments. One of them also provides a backing vocal. The video is entirely shot from single-person perspective and was shot, gorilla-style.
