SCOTT MATTHEWS explores the burden of belief and hope in new visual – My Selfless Moon

The British musician singer songwriter Scott merges two creative mediums for his video My Selfless Moon, adding the theme of retro to create an almost nostalgic atmosphere. The issues of being psychologically weighed down along with the searching for inner hope are explored and it’s something that Scott’s done with very little effort.

Like with many other artists, he channels his energy and creative vibes into the visual aspects of his work.

Scott reverts to the usage of black and white film with a grainy after effect. The presentation of monochrome gives that nostalgic feel and the hazy touches adds that little extra.

Overall it’s actually quite genius and artistic what Scott’s done as he’s used the medium to give visual to something that’s verbal

Rizzle Kicks – Down With the Trumpets

A great one from the late 00’s by British Hip-hop duo, Jordan Stephens and Harley Sylvester who together form Rizzle Kicks.

Originally released in 2011 Down With the Trumpets. What’s intriguing about the song is that it just doesn’t sound like your typical Hip-hop track, in fact it comes across as something that has more of a Swing appeal to it.

Overall Trumpets is more of a carefully put together fusion of hip-hop, swing, alternative dance and jazz. Jordan and Harley definitely put themselves out there as the incredible vocalists and to be fair whether you’re a fan or not the track is infectious.

The ‘yeah yeah, yeah. Get down with the trumpets’ is one those hooks that even though they sound repetitive they do actually work.

The song’s got a stimulating feel-good vibe to it and is told in a gossiping ‘you’ll never guess what happened to me last night’ style. It tells the tale about meeting up with someone who you know you shouldn’t be but can’t seem to resist the temptation, or individual’s seductive flattery.
