Mural-by-the-Sea to Tackle Plastic Pollution with Latest Commission

The second commissioned piece for the ‘Mural-by-the-Sea’ tackles the very topical subject of plastic pollution. The commissioned artist, Daniel Webb, has created a piece to go up on the billboard at Margate amusement park that reflects the huge amounts of plastic waste that one generates a year.
Artist Daniel Webb made sure he didn’t generate any plastic waste for the duration of a whole year and kept all of the plastic he would have normally thrown away.
With this plastic he created ‘Everyday Plastic’, an abstract and colourful work of art that showcases popular brands and everyday plastic items that we use and throw away. With ‘Everyday Plastic’, Webb is hoping to demonstrate the magnitude of the problem of plastic pollution.
“What started out as a bit of an experiment has become a pertinent snapshot of the ubiquity of plastic use, and I’m really happy to raise awareness. The results are as stark as they are shocking,” said the artist.
‘Everyday Plastic’ will go on show on a billboard at Dreamland Margate on 30 March, the amusement park’s Spring opening date, and will be on display until 21 May.
It is the second commissioned piece for the year-long ‘Mural-by-the-Sea’ project which will showcase works by five artists.
