Tomashi Jackson: SLOW JAMZ

The 2022 Roy R. Neuberger Prize Award exhibition is an exciting, all-encompassing multimedia event that will fill the South Gallery of the Neuberger Museum of Art with soundtracks and floor-to-ceiling projections by renowned painter, printmaker, and video artist Tomashi Jackson. The use of light, color, sound, and texture can be used to investigate issues of injustice and apply the influence of art and public policy to critical thought and historical participation.

YOKO ONO’S “Mend Piece”
ON VIEW: August 31 — December 23, 2022
In this version of her renowned artwork Mend Piece (1966/2015), Yoko Ono advocates for collective mending to serve as a form of therapeutic intervention. Broken cups and saucers are set on a table in an unassuming white room. Using twine, glue, scissors, tape, and other ordinary home objects, participants are instructed to join the pieces together. The outcomes are exhibited on nearby shelves as proof of the effectiveness of group effort. Ono’s serene surroundings, which are removed from the busy outside world, encourage contemplation on both turbulent societal issues and personal challenges.
Nicolás De Jesús: A Mexican Artist for Global Justice
ON VIEW: September 7 – December 23, 2022
The artwork and artistic career of modern Mexican artist Nicolás De Jess are examined in this exhibition. De Jess is well known for his etchings on amate, a bark paper used in Pre-Columbian periods to paint manuscripts, which include sarcastic skeletal characters rejoicing, wandering the streets, crossing borders, or battling for justice.
De Jess was raised in a Nahua town in Guerrero, Mexico. These works join the register of political satire started by José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913), a skilled caricaturist who depicted the excesses of the Porfirio regime and the Mexican aristocracy on the verge of the Mexican Revolution with laughter and wit
Small Works Holiday Show
ON VIEW: Nov 18, 2022, and continues through Jan 6, 2023
The Bee Cave Arts Foundation is seeking miniature artworks for our 2022 Holiday Shopping Show, which will run from November 18, 2022, through January 6, 2023. Any visual art genre is acceptable, including 2D and 3D paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics, fiber, mixed media, and graphic design. Any item in multiples is welcome, and work may be refilled as necessary. Artists that create very small things, such as jewelry, will require cases for display.
CO|SO AT THE LANGHAM, BOSTON ARTISTS’ LANE
ON VIEW: 9 Aug 2022 to 31 Jan 2023
The Copley Society of Art, also known as Co|So, was founded in 1879 and is the country’s first non-profit arts organization. Over 300 living artists who represent a variety of experience levels and artistic styles, including classic and academic realists, modern and abstract painters, photographers, and sculptors, are members of the organization. Between 15 and 20 exhibitions, including solo exhibitions, thematic group shows, juried contests, and fundraising activities, are held at the gallery each year.
