Laurence Fishburne has played Morpheus in the original trilogy of Matrix. However, he has not been requested to play his role in the upcoming movie of the hit franchise, despite being a part of the original cast.
In a statement, Fishburne said, “It would make sense that people would ask me that, so it doesn’t get old. I am not in the next Matrix movie, and you’d have to ask Lana Wachowski why, because I don’t have an answer for that.”
In an interview, the actor expressed his disappointment about these changes. Nevertheless he “wishes them well.” When he was talked about his role in the original film, he mentioned,
“It is probably the role that I’ll be best remembered for, which is great; it’s not the only thing I’ll be remembered for, which is better.”
He further added, “What I get with him is I’ve got Darth Vader in this hand, and I’ve got Obi-Wan in that hand. I’ve got Bruce Lee, I’ve got Muhammad Ali shuffled in there, and I’ve got kung fu.”
It was last year that Laurence Fishburne discovered that he had not been invited to star in the new film. But the news has been confirmed recently and has been equally disappointing for the fan of the movies.
